This design is one of several in a small series of garden flowers which Hodo created for Takemura. This series was in direct imitation of Maria Gabo's Western Flowers Series
, and this particular design has a direct counterpart in that series which was used as a model for the Hodo design (see below).
Because there are almost certainly additional designs which remain to be documented, this series has not yet been assigned sequence numbers. For now the design is labeled with its original publication date.
Florist's Cineraria, Pericallis x hybrida
cultivars, now usually サイネリア , saineria
; alternatively サイネリヤ, saineriya
; シネラリア, shineraria
; or シネラリヤ, shinerariya
. The name as it appears on this design, サイラリヤ, sairariya
, is not recognized today as a valid name and is likely a typographical error.
