Design History:
This design was part of the original series of forty-eight designs completed by October 1931 and was also included in later reprintings. As in this caption, the symbol [、] is sometimes used in Japanese to separate sequences of unfamiliar words. The example images were taken with the same camera and under similar lighting conditions. The printing techniques and ink colors of Version I and Version II copies are nearly identical, but the Version I example illustrated here has toned paper. Version III copies typically do differ somewhat in printing technique and ink color from earlier version copies, as is evident here.

Species Illustrated:
Chinese Primrose, Primula sinensis cultivar.
