Design History:
In wfx13 a silhouette of the entire cosmos composition of wf20 is used instead as the overlay image. The background image for wfx13 is of a variety of pelargonium different from the one in wf2. Here the background silhouette is left unprinted and is defined by printing the background color.
The wfx12 design is printed in three colors: the background in off-white; the overlay silhouette in lavender-gray; and highlights on both parts in dull green. The overlay printing is partially translucent, and the underprinted color of the background shows through. These overlapping areas of color demonstrate that both parts were printed as complete (and independent) silhouettes.
