Design History:
In wfx4 a silhouette of the entire amaryllis composition of wf7 is used as the background image, and the background itself is left uninked. The overlay image for wfx4 uses the same nasturtium species as in wf10 but in an entirely new composition.
The wfx4 design is printed in three colors: the background silhouette in pale red-violet; the overlay silhouette (and accents on the background silhouette) in dark green; and highlights on both in black. The overlay printing is partially translucent, and the underprinted color of the background shows through. These overlapping areas of color demonstrate that both parts were printed as complete (and independent) silhouettes.
